.chicago is a potential new GeoTLD to be applied for in ICANN's new gTLD program. It has been tossed around as a possibility considering that Chicago is the third most populous city in the U.S., and the CTO in the Mayor's office confirmed that they were looking into it in July, 2011, via an online forum that allows Chicago citizens to post ideas for city revenue and how to use the city budget.[1]
